For Sale: World Class Grand Touerer from…Switzerland?? 1970 Monteverdi High Speed 375L

This 1970 Monteverdi 375 L is available here from F40 Motorsports in Portland, Connecticut. This Swiss are not exactly prolific car manufacturers, but Switzerland is a country full of car enthusiasts. Peter Monteverdi was a Swiss distributor for Ferrari, Lancia, and BMW automobiles, and following a disagreement with Mr. Ferrari, he set out to produce his own cars. Thus, Monteverdi is another company that owes its existence to the abrasive personality of Enzo Ferrari (like ATS and Lamborghini). The 375 was the result of their efforts, and was a stylish and attractive car styled by Frua and built by Fissore. The car was available in several versions, including the 375S 2-seat model, 375/4 (4-door sedan), 375 C (convertible), and the 375 L (2+2).

All models are attractive and well-proportioned cars with a very Italian look, which is unsurprising given that the cars were styled by Frua. This example is reported to have been recently restored and looks very nice in the pictures. The car is correct and complete, both important considerations since the extremely low production figures means that parts availability is virtually non-existent.

The interior is attractive and well-made, with typical period disregard for ergonomics.

The powertrain is Chrysler which means that keeping the cars going is a relatively straightforward and inexpensive proposition. The cars were available with 440cid and 426cid Hemi powerplants, and usually had automatic transmissions as well. This particular example has a 440 cid engine, power steering, AC, and automatic transmission.

This is an unusual opportunity to acquire a rare and attractive car with great performance and uniqueness factor. With its Chrysler driveline, the car enjoys the same benefits of the continental-American hybrids of the period, and is sure to attract lots of curious inquiries wherever it goes.
